Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa is a kaupapa Māori organisation based on a whānau-first, tikanga-based, wellbeing approach. Our organisation works to a model of care centred around our pou (guiding principles) of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, arohatanga, rangatiratanga, tika and pono. We deliver health and social services across the lifespan and have a team of over 100 people working across Hamilton city and beyond.

About the Service and Role

Te Ara Pai provides compassionate, culturally responsive support for individuals and whānau impacted by alcohol and other drug use. Guided by our pou, the service offers a safe, non-judgemental space that supports wellbeing and recovery.

We are seeking an AOD Clinician to join our Te Ara Pai service. This role plays a vital part in supporting whanaunga experiencing mild to moderate AOD concerns and co-existing mental health needs.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based clinical interventions, maintain safe and accurate case management, and uphold cultural and professional standards. This role requires a balance of clinical expertise and kaupapa Māori practice, ensuring whanaunga are supported with dignity, aroha, and empowerment in their recovery journeys.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and collaboratively develop care plans with whanaunga.
• Deliver individual and group clinical interventions, using both harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches.
• Maintain accurate documentation, daily notes, and case management records in line with service and audit requirements.
• Actively contribute to MDT hui and collaborate with sector partners, residential providers, and community agencies.
• Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring timely follow-up and continuity of care.
• Maintain professional registration (e.g., DAPAANZ) and competency requirements.
• Uphold kaupapa Māori values and integrate Te Ao Māori principles into all aspects of clinical practice.

Experience

• Previous experience in AOD or mental health clinical practice.
• Experience working with whānau in kaupapa Māori or values-based environments is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads and contribute within a multidisciplinary team.
• Qualifications and Education
• Relevant clinical qualification and current professional registration (e.g., DAPAANZ, Social Work, Nursing, Counselling).
• Ongoing commitment to professional development and sector competency frameworks.

Qualifications:

• Relevant clinical qualification and current professional registration (e.g., DAPAANZ, Social Work, Nursing, Counselling).
• Experience in working with individuals with substance use disorders or in a similar clinical setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment methodologies and evidence-based practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards.
