Description

About the role:

SYOS is looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our prototype manufacturing team. This is a hands-on role supporting aircraft manufacturing, assembly, integration and flight testing. You’ll work closely with our engineering and flight test teams to help build, modify and prepare aircraft for ground and flight trials.

This a 3-month contract with potential to go to perm – great opportunity to showcase what you can do.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support to aircraft manufacturing activities, including mechanical assembly, integration and airframe construction.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to complete manufacturing tasks accurately.
  • Follow manufacturing procedures and quality standards to support prototype aircraft builds and modifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing, mechanical and system issues in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Prepare and configure aircraft for ground and flight testing, including pre- and post-flight inspections.
  • Support flight line operations and trial activities as required.
  • Maintain a safe, organised work environment and ensure compliance with all safety and quality requirements.

Experience required:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in aircraft manufacturing, maintenance or a related aerospace environment.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and airframe construction experience.
  • Excellent fault diagnosis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in prototype, development or low-volume production environments is desirable.
  • Experience with helicopters and piston engines is desirable.
  • Flexibility to work at remote trial locations and adapt to changing test schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment.
