MŌ TE TŪNGA | ABOUT THE ROLE
This is casual work, meaning flexible hours that can work around your life. We offer a variety of shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings and night awake.
You’ll be providing one-to-one and group support across our residential services. You’ll build professional relationships with tāngata and support them in achieving everyday goals — from daily routines, personal cares and meal prep to community connection and life skills.
Our Ōtepoti (Dunedin) services support people with diverse and complex needs. This role suits someone who can remain calm under pressure, work collaboratively in a team, and see the person behind the diagnosis.
MŌU AKE | ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for caring, reliable people who are passionate about supporting tāngata whaiora to live meaningful and independent lives. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team, communicate confidently, and be able to work independently when required.
Must Have
- A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence.
- The legal right to work in New Zealand. If you hold a work visa, you must have at least 18 months remaining.
- Excellent communication and comprehension skills, with the ability to understand, interpret, and accurately follow written and verbal instructions, care plans, and workplace procedures.
- The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Confidence working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new systems.
Desirable
- A New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (Level 4), an equivalent qualification, or currently studying towards a relevant qualification (e.g. health, psychology, counselling, social work, nursing or wellbeing).
- Experience supporting people experiencing mental distress, brain injury, intellectual differences, or other complex support needs.
- An understanding of person-centred, recovery-focused practice and supporting tāngata who are neurodiverse.
- An understanding of, or willingness to support, Stepping Stone Trust’s bicultural journey and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
