Description

For over three decades, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand has been a ‘home-away-from-home’ for Kiwi families who need somewhere to stay when their child is hospitalised.

The Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programmes offer free accommodation and support, taking care of the practical things in life so families can focus on what matters most – each other.

On average we provide roughly 4,000 families annually across New Zealand with accommodation free of charge, saving them over $6 million collectively. We are part of a global network which is now over 40 years old, and RMHC has Houses operating in over 62 countries.

The Opportunities

Fantastic opportunities are available to join our Auckland Programs team, at both Domain House and the Family Room. Key responsibilities include:

· Welcoming and orienting new families, assisting resident families with questions and concerns

· Receiving bookings, liaising with social workers and ward staff at the National Children’s Hospital (Starship)

· Keeping these programmes running smoothly

· Applicants will be offered full training and will need to be flexible

Shift hours are as follow:

Domain House: Monday am, Monday mid, Friday am, Sunday mid and Sunday late

Family Room: Saturday am and Sunday am weekly shifts

Additional shifts will be available from time to time to cover holidays, so flexibility is important.

Key skills and experience required

– 1 + year in a family support role desirable

– Intermediate level computer skills including data entry

– Confident dealing with a diverse range of people

– Understanding or Te Ao Māori and/or Pasifika culture

– A good command of the English language is also required
