Ko wai mātou | About us
Pegasus Health works with general practices, community providers and health system partners to improve access to care and support people to stay well in their communities.
Acute Demand Coordination and Community Nursing is central to this work, supporting care closer to home, reducing pressure on hospitals, and connecting patients, whānau and healthcare providers across Canterbury.
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to improving equitable access and outcomes for Māori, Pacific, CALD, LGBTQI+ and other priority populations.
Ko tāu ake mahi | About the role
Help more people receive safe care closer to home.
As Service Manager, Acute Demand, you’ll lead the coordination service and provide operational support to the community nursing team, helping people avoid hospital admission and return home through supported, timely discharge. You’ll work across general practice, community nursing and hospital services, bringing people and processes together so care connects around the patient.
Working alongside experienced clinical and operational leaders, you’ll strengthen service delivery and patient flow, tackle practical challenges and turn service improvements into everyday practice. You’ll also contribute to service development, including technology-enabled care and new approaches that help more people receive care safely in the community.
This is a non-clinical leadership role. Your focus will be operational delivery, service integration and implementation, with no clinical duties or opportunity to undertake clinical work.
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu | What you’ll bring
You’ll bring experience leading people and managing day-to-day service delivery, with a practical approach to solving problems and making improvements. You’ll also look beyond your own service, understanding how it connects with others and how your decisions affect the wider system. You’ll welcome change and enjoy helping people put new approaches into practice.
You will bring:
- Experience leading in healthcare or community services or operational environments.
- Experience delivering and supporting service improvements, change and new initiatives that bring people, processes and systems together.
- The ability to draw on data and frontline insight to understand issues and turn that understanding into practical action.
- The ability to build strong working relationships and work confidently across organisations. A collaborative leadership style with a strong focus on equity, quality and safety.
- A constructive approach to working with Team Leaders, clinical leaders and service partners.
Experience in health services, community healthcare, primary care, hospital services or integrated models of care would be an advantage.
You will also bring, or be ready to develop, an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working in a bicultural way.
Ko tā mātou e kawe mai nei | What we offer
- Join a supportive and collaborative leadership environment.
- Access wellness benefits, including a wellness subsidy and no-charge after-hours medical care.
- Make a meaningful difference for patients, whānau and communities across Canterbury.
