This is a meaningful opportunity for a registered nurse who enjoys working with tamariki and whānau, and is committed to supporting timely, accessible B4 School Checks across Waitaha Canterbury.

Te āhua o te mahi | What you will be doing

As a B4 School Check Mobile Nurse, you will complete checks for tamariki referred by general practice, in home or community settings. You will arrange appointments, provide informed consent, complete comprehensive assessments, and help identify next steps where needed.

  • Providing clinically safe, culturally responsive checks in home and community settings.
  • Building trust with whānau through clear, respectful and strengths-based communication.
  • Working with the coordination team and practices to prioritise referrals and support timely completion of checks.
  • Helping improve coverage and equitable access for tamariki Māori, Pacific peoples and whānau experiencing barriers to services.

You will bring sound clinical judgement, confidence working with tamariki and whānau, and a practical, whānau-centred approach.

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • B4 School Check experience is valued; transferable experience in child health, community nursing, primary care, Well Child Tamariki Ora, public health nursing or related areas is also welcome.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with whānau, practices, community providers and early learning services.
  • Strong organisation, accurate documentation, a full driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
