Over the years, Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa has evolved into a leading iwi provider of health, social, early childcare, employment and, more recently, Kāinga Māori development services.

With the continued growth of our organisation, we are seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our team and support positive outcomes for whānau across our communities.

Mā whero, mā pango – The Mahi Ahead

In this newly established role, you will provide culturally responsive support for whānau navigating complex challenges and life experiences. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, you will combine evidence-based practice with kaupapa Māori principles to help create positive and sustainable change.

How You’ll Make a Difference:

  • Deliver psychological assessment, intervention, and therapeutic support.
  • Support individuals and whānau to build resilience, wellbeing, and pathways forward.
  • Contribute specialist expertise to multidisciplinary and interagency responses.
  • Promote culturally safe and whānau-centred practice.
  • Integrate kaupapa Māori approaches and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles into service delivery.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and positive outcomes for whānau.

You are a registered psychologist with sound clinical judgement and a passion for supporting whānau wellbeing.

You Also Possess the Following Qualities:

  • Experience working in psychology, mental health, trauma, family wellbeing, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to culturally safe practice.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and engagement skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within Te Ao Māori and apply tikanga Māori in professional practice.
  • Registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
