We have an exciting opportunity for a People and Safety Manager to join the Aquaculture division at Mount Cook Alpine Salmon. In this varied role, you will work closely with managers across our salmon farming operations providing People and Safety guidance while helping to deliver strategic initiatives.

About us

At Mt Cook Alpine Salmon, we’re passionate about delivering sustainably farmed, premium-quality Freshwater King Salmon to discerning customers in New Zealand and around the world. Our product is extraordinary and rare: the way we farm salmon makes up for less than 1% of the total global salmon production.

Our team of over 200 are spread mostly across the South Island at our farms in Twizel, processing plant in Timaru, production facility in Christchurch and corporate office in Queenstown.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Twizel Operations, with a strong working relationship with the General Manager People & Safety, you will act as the critical link between our Aquaculture division and central People & Safety team.

You will lead a team of two and work closely with operational leaders to deliver effective people practices, strengthen workplace culture, and support health and safety performance across our salmon farming operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide People and Safety advice and support to managers and leaders
  • Lead and support employee lifecycle activities from recruitment to offboarding
  • Lead health and safety initiatives, including risk management, incident investigations, and continuous improvement
  • Lead and develop a team of two People and Safety professionals

What you’ll bring

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • At least five years’ experience in People and Safety
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 skills
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
