Description

Summary:

The CAD & Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end design-to-production process within the factory. This role ensures kitchen projects are accurately detailed, delivered within agreed timeframes to support client schedules, and manufactured to the highest quality standards. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership of CAD, production staff, and factory operations with a focus on drawing accuracy and quality manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

CAD & Design Management

  • Oversee all CAD drawings and production documentation using Cabinet Vision (ideally CV2025).
  • Ensure designs are accurate, buildable, and compliant with company standards and NZ building requirements.
  • Translate sales and design concepts into detailed manufacturing-ready drawings.
  • Maintain and improve Cabinet Vision libraries, materials, and machining processes, with the support of the internal team primarily and externally where essential.
  • Resolve technical design issues in collaboration with designers, installers, and production staff.
  • Production & Factory Management

  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly factory production workflows.
  • Ensure efficient use of machinery, materials, and labour to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor production quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee health & safety compliance within the factory environment.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding materials, hardware, and machinery requirements.
  • Ensure machinery is maintained, repaired, serviced and or replaced as practicable.
    • Leadership & People Management

    • Lead, mentor and manage CAD technicians, cabinet makers, and factory staff.
    • Conduct performance reviews, training, and skills development with the support of the General Manager.
    • Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture.
    • Work with the General Manager to plan and coordinate staffing requirements aligned with production needs.
    • Operational & Continuous Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline workflows.
    • Support the implementation of new technologies, machinery, or systems.
    • Assist with costing accuracy, material optimisation, and production planning.
    • Provide technical input into new product development and custom solutions.
    • Skills & Experience Required

    • Qualified Cabinet Maker with strong hands-on trade experience.
    • Experience in kitchen manufacturing or high-end joinery environments.
    • Advanced proficiency in Cabinet Vision software (CV2025 highly desirable).
    • Proven experience managing production staff and factory operations.
    • Strong understanding of CNC machinery, panel processing, and cabinetry manufacturing methods.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and create detailed shop drawings.
    • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across design, production, and installation teams.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook and Excel).
    • Desirable

    • Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
    • Understanding of project scheduling and production costing.
    • Proficiency in Smartsheet or similar scheduling software.
    • Leadership or management training.
