Description
We supply premium, custom-built louvre kitsets to homeowners and trade partners across New Zealand, alongside our online DIY brand, Backyard Blinds.
We’re a small, growing team and we’re looking for a reliable all-rounder who can get stuck in across the business.
This role is split between operations and warehouse work and customer service and sales support. Some weeks you’ll be hands-on receiving containers, organising stock and dispatching customer orders. Other weeks you’ll be on the phone, responding to customers, following up enquiries and helping keep sales moving.
Longer term, we see this role developing with the business. As the team grows and responsibilities become more specialised, there will be an opportunity to move more heavily into the area that suits you best — whether that’s operations, logistics and inventory, or sales, customer service and account management.
For now, we’re looking for someone who enjoys variety and is happy to get involved wherever they’re needed.
About the Role
There are two main sides to the position.
Operations & Warehouse
When containers arrive or order volumes are high, your focus will shift heavily towards operations.
This will generally account for around 1–2 weeks each month, although it will vary depending on shipment and order volumes.
You’ll help manage stock from the moment it arrives through to the point it leaves our warehouse for the customer.
This includes:
- Helping unload inbound containers
- Checking and receiving incoming stock
- Organising and putting stock away
- Picking and preparing customer orders
- Managing dispatches and freight
- Keeping inventory and order statuses accurate in our systems
- Keeping the warehouse organised and running efficiently
Customer Service & Sales Support
Once warehouse priorities are under control, your focus will move towards customers and sales.
You’ll be speaking with customers every day, helping with enquiries, orders and deliveries while making sure nothing gets forgotten or left sitting.
This includes:
- Responding to customer enquiries by phone and email
- Helping customers with product and order questions
- Following up enquiries and potential sales
- Keeping customers updated on their orders
- Helping resolve customer issues
- Supporting the wider sales team
- Making sure enquiries and tasks are followed through to completion
This isn’t a call-centre role and it isn’t purely a warehouse role.
You’ll move between different parts of the business depending on what needs attention.
The Kind of Person We’re Looking For
More than anything, we’re looking for someone we can trust and enjoy working with.
We’re a small team, so attitude matters.
You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be someone who is willing to learn, asks questions, takes responsibility and gets stuck in when something needs doing.
You’ll ideally be someone who:
- Is reliable and does what they say they’ll do
- Gets along easily with different types of people
- Is friendly, down-to-earth and easy to work with
- Communicates confidently with both customers and the team
- Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Is comfortable jumping between different types of work
- Doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty when the warehouse is busy
- Stays calm and organised when several things are happening at once
- Has strong attention to detail
- Follows things through and doesn’t let tasks disappear
- Is comfortable working independently
- Brings a positive, practical attitude to work
We care much more about finding the right person than finding someone with a perfect CV – tell us why you you’re the best fit.
Where the Role Can Lead
We expect the business and team to continue growing, and we want this role to grow with it.
Initially, you’ll learn multiple sides of the business and become someone we can rely on across both operations and customer-facing work.
Over time, there will be opportunities to specialise depending on your strengths and interests.
You may find yourself moving towards:
Operations & Logistics Taking greater ownership of warehousing, inventory, freight, purchasing, suppliers and the wider supply chain.
Or:
Sales & Customer Relationships Taking greater ownership of sales, customer service, trade accounts and growing relationships with our customers and partners.
We don’t expect you to know which direction you want to take immediately. Part of the opportunity is learning the business first and figuring out where you’re strongest.
Bonus — But Not Essential
- Warehouse, logistics or dispatch experience
- Customer service or sales experience
- Experience using inventory or CRM software
- Forklift licence
- Experience in building, construction, landscaping or a similar industry
What’s On Offer

- Direct access to the owners and decision-makers
- Ongoing development with an annual training allowance
- The opportunity to make a noticeable impact in a small team
This Role Probably Won’t Suit You If
- You only want to sit behind a desk
- You only want to work in the warehouse
- You regularly say “that’s not my job”
- You need every day to follow exactly the same routine
- You don’t enjoy dealing with people
- You struggle to follow things up
- You avoid taking responsibility when something goes wrong
- You prefer a highly structured corporate environment
- You’re not willing to jump in and help the team when things get busy

We’re ultimately looking for someone who can become a trusted part of the team — someone who works hard, gets along with people, takes ownership and wants to grow with the business.
