Description

Logistics Manager

Who We Are

Founded by Gosia Piatek in 2006, Kowtow is a seed-to-garment brand from Wellington, New Zealand. All of our garments are made naturally from a single fibre, Fairtrade organic cotton.

At Kowtow our vision is to create clothing that can return to the earth without harm. We take responsibility for what we produce, how we operate our business and are actively working on solutions to reduce our footprint. We are committed to the principles of circular design – reducing waste, making products that last, keeping them in use and regenerating the natural environment at every point in the process. Our collections are created to build a modular wardrobe, offering quality pieces that can be worn again and again, year after year.

“The limitations of our ethos keeps us innovative. We don’t compromise on design, and embrace restrictions. This gives our garments a strong minimal identity, and we believe the simplicity of our clothing is the first step toward circularity.”

– Gosia Piatek, Kowtow Founder

The Role and what you will bring

We are searching for a Logistics Manager to join our team in Wellington and support our commitment to conscious creation. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage our global logistics to ensure our pieces move from makers to customers with care and efficiency. This is a role for a natural problem-solver who wants to make a real-world impact and be part of the slow fashion movement. The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing freight activity between suppliers, warehouses and retail environments, to ensure delivery deadlines, operational planning requirements and inventory management goals are met.

The Primary Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate the smooth and timely movement of our product between suppliers, warehouses and retail stores across the globe.
  • Optimise cost-effective and sustainable freight solutions, negotiating the best rates and services for our local and international needs.
  • Nurture strong relationships with our logistics partners, ensuring they share our commitment to excellence and sustainable practices.
  • You are the go to person for our logistics, a proactive problem solver providing clear and consistent logistics communication and resolving issues for the wider team.
  • Master the art of purchasing administration, from the creation of packing slips to procurement and channel allocation processes.
  • Manage and report on logistics and freight project data and analytics to drive continuous business improvement, including tracking carbon footprint and other supply chain related sustainability goals.

Your Skills and Experience

  • You have a background in a similar role, ideally within the fashion industry, or similar product driven business. Preferably at least 2-3 years.
  • A natural relationship-builder who thrives on collaboration and communication.
  • You have a proven track record of managing freight costs effectively, without compromising on quality or ethics.
  • You are tech-savvy and comfortable with stock management systems/ERPs, Excel and experience with Cin7 preferred.
  • You are curious and proactive, with a keen eye for industry advancements and the competitive landscape.
  • You are a confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills, with a meticulous eye for detail, impeccable time management skills, and the initiative to see projects through to completion.

Ideally you care about preserving the planet as much as we do and have a genuine interest in circularity, sustainability and innovation.
