Kaitiaki o te Ngahere (www.kaitiakirestoration.co.nz) specialises in pest plant management and ecological restoration. We are seeking a Field Supervisor who is proactive, organised, and confident in leading teams. The successful candidate will ensure that our projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and supervising the field team, keeping work on schedule and to a high-quality standard
• Keeping documentation in order in the field and meeting reporting and data requirements, so every team has clear instructions, the right gear, and accurate records that meet client and company standards
• Training and mentoring new and existing team members in ecological restoration methods, including manual and chemical pest plant control, revegetation, pest animal control, native forest surveying and more, with hands-on support to keep delivery safe and efficient
• Carrying out regular health and safety audits and quality checks in the field, and following up when something needs to change
• Supporting the Operations Manager with client relationships, contract compliance and reporting

Ideal Candidate:

• 2+ years of field experience supervising or managing a crew, ideally in ecological restoration, land management or a similar industry
• Genuine confidence with tools and pest management techniques, including agrichemical application.
• Good plant identification skills, native and invasive, and a solid understanding of New Zealand ecosystems, backed by a tertiary qualification in conservation, ecology or environmental science, an agricultural/horticultural background, or equivalent hands-on experience
• A confident, dependable leader who can motivate a team, make calls under pressure, keep people focused, and have the harder conversations when they’re needed
• A full NZ driver’s licence with manual experience, GrowSafe or RCA certification and current First Aid
• A genuine fitness for physical outdoor work in all conditions
• A drive to uphold high health and safety standards as well as quality control
• A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
