The role

We are recruiting casual ReStore Retail Assistants to support our Invercargill ReStore operations. This casual role offers flexible work and may involve shifts across both The Garage and the Glengarry store, depending on operational needs. The role supports the smooth day-to-day running of our ReStore sites, with a focus on sales, stock management, manual handling and excellent customer service. Key requirements include strong communication skills, reliability, teamwork, flexibility and a genuine interest in preloved household items, clothes, books and other donated goods.

Our Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for customer-focused, reliable and motivated people who are seeking flexible casual work. You’ll enjoy variety, be comfortable working across different ReStore areas, and be available for casual shifts across the garage and Glengarry store as needed. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, and be comfortable assisting with stock management and physical lifting tasks.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous retail experience, ideally in a charity retail or customer service environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good computer skills
• Flexibility and availability to work casual shifts across both the garage and Glengarry store as required
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays
• A calm, proactive, and self-motivated approach
• Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and processing transactions
• An eye for merchandising and store presentation (preferred)
• Physical fitness to assist around the store when donations are dropped off
• A genuine commitment to Habitat’s mission and helping within a charitable organisation
