About us

Verve has led the way in family portraiture for 18 years. We have since moved into boudoir photography, and Verve Intimate is growing faster than ever. We launched three luxury studios across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in under a year, and Auckland is next.

About the role

We’re opening our first New Zealand studio in Auckland this November, and we’re looking for its founding Studio Manager.

At heart, this is a retail leadership role. You’ll run the studio and lead the team. You’ll also personally run all of the studio’s design consultations, where clients choose their artwork and place their order.

You don’t need to be a photographer. You might have led a sales floor in fashion, jewellery, beauty, bridal, homewares or another premium retail setting. If you’ve hit targets and love the one-on-one side of selling, you already have the core of what we’re after, and we’ll train you in the rest. If you do have photography skills, you can choose to shoot some sessions yourself.

The role is 40 hours per week across 5 days. Rosters include a weekend day (Sat or Sun) and some evenings to meet appointment demand.

What you’ll do

• Launch and run the studio. You’ll own daily operations, scheduling, presentation standards and the systems that keep everything moving.
• Lead every sales consultation. You’ll personally run all of the studio’s design appointments, helping clients choose their artwork and complete their order.
• Own the studio’s results. You’ll drive sales performance and client experience from first enquiry to artwork delivery.
• Build and lead the team. You’ll develop a small team of photographers, designers and makeup artists.
• Deliver a premium experience. Every client should feel at ease in a private, judgment-free space.

• An experienced sales or retail leader. You’ve managed a team and a target, and you enjoy presenting, inspiring and closing with grace.
• Someone clients love. You’re warm, unhurried and brilliant one-on-one.
• A natural leader. You’re organised, accountable and calm under pressure.
• Discreet and reliable. You understand the care an intimate studio demands.
• Flexible. You’re available for a weekend day and some evenings.
• Photography knowledge is a bonus, not a must.
