The Role

The Global Equities Financials Analyst is responsible for high-quality fundamental research and analysis of the financial services sector globally, such as banks, insurers, asset managers, exchanges and other financial institutions, and making investment recommendations to the Global Equities team

 

The role contributes to company and industry research, monitoring existing investments, identifying new opportunities and supporting Investment Committee preparation. You will also help communicate Generate’s investment thinking clearly to advisers, staff and other stakeholders.

You will:

  • Conduct detailed fundamental research and analysis of global financial services companies to identify investment opportunities.
  • Develop clear investment theses and recommendations using financial statements, business models, valuations, earnings, capital positions and sector risks.
  • Monitor existing portfolio holdings, company developments and market trends, identifying changes that may impact investment decisions.
  • Present evidence-based investment recommendations and insights to the Global Equities team.
  • Support the wider Investment Team with research, idea generation, portfolio monitoring and Investment Committee materials.
  • Stay across global equity markets, financial-sector trends and economic developments relevant to Generate’s portfolios.
  • Communicate investment insights clearly through adviser updates, investment commentary, newsletters and other content.
  • Build strong relationships across the business and respond to investment-related queries from internal teams.
  • Continuously improve investment research tools, processes and ways of working, including appropriate use of AI and digital tools.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, governance, risk management, confidentiality and professional integrity.

About You

Qualifications (or equivalent level of learning) 

    • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or investment qualification such as CFA.

Experience 

  • 5-7+ years’ experience in financial markets, investment management, equity research or a closely related discipline.
  • Ideally prior experience covering global equities – financial services markets
  • Strong understanding of investment management and the role of fundamental research within an active investment process.
  • Proven experience researching companies and industries and forming clear, evidence-based investment views or recommendations.
  • Strong analytical capability, including financial statement analysis, business analysis and investment judgement.
  • Ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work within deadlines and under pressure.
  • Highly self-motivated, curious and able to work independently and collaboratively.
