Youth Services Team Lead — Youth Hub Albany
Lead a team that changes young lives!
We’re looking for a Youth Services Team Lead to take the reins of our Youth Services team and help more young people find their pathway into education, training, and employment.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of youth engagement, community partnership, and student success. You’ll lead a team responsible for recruiting, supporting, and retaining youth learners, while building the school, community, and employer relationships that keep the pipeline strong.
You’ll report to the Head of Youth and Social Services and play a key part in shaping how we reach and support young people across Auckland.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading, coaching, and developing a Youth Services team to hit performance and engagement goals
- Driving recruitment strategy and enrolment growth through schools, alternative education providers, churches, community groups, and government agencies
- Overseeing pastoral care and engagement so students get timely, appropriate support throughout their journey
- Building and strengthening partnerships that open doors — work experience, employment, apprenticeships, further study
- Tracking and reporting on recruitment, retention, and outcome data to keep the team focused on what matters
- Ensuring everything runs to standard — accurate records, and compliance with the Pastoral Care Code, NZQA, and TEC requirements
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience leading and developing a team to achieve targets
- A background in student recruitment, youth engagement, or community engagement — ideally in education or the social sector
- Genuine cultural competence and the ability to connect authentically with diverse young people, whānau, and communities, including Māori and Pasifika
- Confidence building relationships across schools, community and faith-based organisations, employers, and government agencies
- Comfort working with data — you can read the numbers and turn them into action
- Strong communication skills and the ability to create a motivating environment for staff and students alike
- Working knowledge of the Pastoral Care Code and relevant NZQA/TEC standards (or a fast willingness to get across it)
