Description

GUEST SERVICE HOST

Flockhill  |  Fixed-term, Full time |  [November – March]

From the moment our guests arrive to the moment they leave, someone is quietly making sure every detail feels effortless. That’s you. As our Guest Service Host, you’ll be the face of Flockhill — the person our guests turn to, trust, and remember.

About Flockhill

Flockhill is a New Zealand icon — a high-country property where luxury hospitality and farming come together. We’re bold, we’re authentic, and we look after our land, our animals, and each other. “Better Together” isn’t just something we say — it’s how we work, across the lodge, the farm, and everyone who calls Flockhill home for a season or longer.

We are a 90 minute drive with staff accommodation available.

About the Role

The Guest Service Host is the main point of contact for our guests from arrival to departure — the warm, polished presence who makes every stay feel personal and seamless. You’ll manage check-ins and check-outs, run daily briefings across departments, and look for genuine opportunities to introduce guests to more of what Flockhill has to offer. You’ll work closely with our heads of departments and reservations teams to keep the guest journey seamless from start to finish.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Greet guests on arrival and guide them through a smooth, personalised check-in
  • Be the main point of contact for guests throughout their stay — handling questions, requests, and feedback with warmth and professionalism
  • Manage check-outs, including luggage and farewells, so departures feel as good as arrivals
  • Run daily briefings and forecasts so every department knows what’s coming and can deliver on it
  • Coordinate concierge details — transport, luggage, and special requests — alongside housekeeping, activities, and food & beverage
  • Confidently introduce guests to Flockhill’s experiences and services, with the knowledge to talk price and upsell naturally
  • Pour a great coffee and host guests with light beverage service in our guest areas
  • Bill add-ons accurately and on the day, so nothing gets missed at check-out
  • Step in and support other departments when the Lodge needs it — flexibility is part of the role

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in a guest-facing hospitality, tourism, or customer service role
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the confidence to run a briefing
  • A polished, professional presentation and a warm, approachable manner
  • Barista experience, or willingness to be trained
  • Sales experience, or willingness to be trained
  • Experience in luxury or high-end hospitality (preferred, not essential)
  • An understanding of high country or remote hospitality operations (preferred, not essential)
