walkway), we deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions across New Zealand’s critical industries.
Over the past few years, Five-D has experienced significant growth, building a strong reputation, expanding our client base, and developing a solid forward workload. As we continue this momentum, we are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our high-performing team and help shape the next phase of our journey.
About the Role
This is a senior-level position where you will play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects, strengthening client relationships, and mentoring emerging engineers.
You will:
- Lead mechanical design and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to completion
- Work closely with clients to understand and solve real-world challenges
- Provide technical leadership and guidance within the team
- Take ownership of technical outcomes, ensuring quality, compliance, and safety requirements are met
- Contribute to business growth and continuous improvement initiatives

About You
You are a well-rounded Senior Engineer who brings both technical depth and a collaborative mindset.
You will bring:
- 8+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering (consulting or industrial environment)
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design methods, and relevant standards
- Experience delivering mechanical design across project lifecycles
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
- Excellent communication and client engagement skills
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with high attention to detail
- A team-first attitude and a passion for mentoring and developing others
