Join Eliot Sinclair’s Queenstown team and work on a diverse range of land development and infrastructure projects across the Queenstown Lakes region.

Eliot Sinclair is a multidisciplinary consultancy with offices across the South Island, including Christchurch, Rangiora, Queenstown, Wānaka, Hokitika and Nelson. Originally a family-run business, we continue to operate with strong core values and a practical, people-first approach. Our teams are known for collaboration, technical capability and a supportive working environment.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a qualified Land Surveyor to join our Queenstown team.

This is an opportunity to work across a broad range of surveying projects, with the flexibility to take on responsibilities that reflect your skills and experience. Whether you’ve recently completed your surveying degree or have several years of experience behind you, you’ll be part of a team where you can contribute, develop your technical expertise and take ownership of your work.

You’ll work closely with an experienced Licensed Cadastral Surveyor and Branch Manager, with the support of our wider surveying network across the South Island.

The role offers a good mix of fieldwork and office-based work, exposure to different surveying disciplines and the opportunity to be involved in projects from start to finish.

The Role

  • Deliver surveying services across land development and infrastructure projects
  • Undertake topographical, setting out, UAV, cadastral, hydrographic and 3D laser scanning surveys
  • Work collaboratively with surveyors, planners and engineers across our South Island offices
  • Manage projects appropriate to your experience, with technical support and guidance available
  • Continue developing your professional skills, including working towards licensing where applicable

What We’re Looking For

  • A Bachelor of Surveying (B.Surv), ideally from the University of Otago
  • An interest in working across a variety of surveying disciplines
  • Strong communication skills and sound professional judgement
  • A practical approach to problem-solving and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with 12d Model would be an advantage, although training is available
  • You must currently reside in New Zealand and have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Applicants based overseas will not be considered.

We welcome applications from surveyors at different stages of their careers, with responsibilities tailored to your experience.

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary aligned with your skills and experience
  • Health insurance after three months of employment
  • Life, trauma and income protection insurance after six months
  • Optional nine-day fortnight
  • Professional development, mentoring and licensing support
  • A varied workload across a range of surveying projects
  • A supportive team backed by an established South Island consultancy
  • Up to three months’ free accommodation for those relocating to Queenstown, in our company apartment located above the office, giving you time to settle in and find longer-term accommodation
