Description

Are you looking to grow your career in a team that values technical excellence, practical learning, and having fun along the way? If so, you’ll enjoy working at Edison as we continue to grow and support our clients across New Zealand’s energy sector.

At Edison, we endeavour to be the best consultancy to work for. We support our people while cultivating an inclusive, down-to-earth team culture where individuals can thrive and contribute to collective success. We want you to enjoy your work, be inspired to keep learning, and create outstanding outcomes for our clients.

What sets Edison apart is the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced Project Managers, Construction Managers, and technical specialists who have spent decades delivering critical electricity infrastructure projects throughout New Zealand. Their real-world experience provides invaluable insights into constructability, commissioning, project delivery, and asset operations, helping our engineers develop practical knowledge that goes beyond design alone.

In addition to working on our growing portfolio of substation, transmission and renewables design projects, you’ll have opportunities to participate in site visits, engage with live projects, and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle. We believe that seeing how our designs perform in the field helps to build stronger engineers, better designers, and more commercially aware professionals.

Senior Design Engineers can be based in our offices in Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch.

What we offer you

  • Flexible working arrangements and a competitive remuneration package
  • Diverse, challenging projects that shape New Zealand’s critical infrastructure
  • A clear technical career pathway, with progression opportunities that do not require a move into people management
  • Access to experienced project delivery, construction, and technical specialists who are committed to knowledge sharing and mentoring
  • Regular site visits and hands-on project involvement, giving you the opportunity to see your designs delivered in the field
  • A supportive, collaborative, and non-corporate culture where your ideas, expertise, and initiative are genuinely valued
  • Ongoing professional development, training, and support towards your career goals
