Auckland General Team Leader

We’re looking for a Team Leader to lead our Auckland General team in Parnell. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys bringing out the best in people while staying close to clients and the commercial side of the business. You’ll lead a capable team, manage a mid-sized portfolio and help shape the growth and direction of our Auckland business.

A glimpse at what you’ll be doing:

• Lead from the front: Coach and develop Risk Advisers and Associate Risk Advisers, set clear expectations and create a team environment where people take ownership and support one another
• Stay connected to clients: Manage and grow a mid-sized portfolio, building trusted relationships and delivering high-quality service
• Turn strategy into action: Help shape the team’s strategic and annual business plans, then translate them into clear priorities and practical results
• Create clarity: Set meaningful team goals and keep performance on track against agreed KPIs, SLAs and business objectives
• Keep the team moving: Plan capacity, workflow and technical support across renewals and new business so work is well managed and clients are looked after
• Support great advice: Work alongside the team on client relationships, insurance programme proposals and renewals
• Spot opportunities to improve: Monitor team and portfolio performance, address issues early and put practical improvements in place
• Bring commercial focus: Contribute to budgeting and forecasting with the General Manager, Fire & General
• Build strong partnerships: Develop trusted relationships with clients, insurers and other key stakeholders
• Set the standard: Make sure legal, ethical and policy requirements, internal controls and delegated authorities are understood and followed

To thrive in this role, you will:

• have proven experience leading and developing people and know how to combine clear accountability with practical, supportive coaching
• bring strong general insurance knowledge, commercial judgement and the confidence to manage important client relationships
• hold the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5)
• be organised, proactive and comfortable balancing leadership, client and commercial priorities in a growing business
• communicate clearly and build high-trust relationships with colleagues, clients and insurers
• use sound judgement, raise issues early and enjoy finding practical ways forward
