About the role

This position spans both field and office operations, offering variety and technical challenge. You’ll lead complex surveying projects, manage fieldwork, and mentor junior staff, all while ensuring high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver complex projects, overseeing planning, client liaison, and resource allocation.
  • Apply advanced technical expertise and support team development.
  • Conduct field surveys across varied environments using technologies such as GNSS, UAVs, Robotics, automation and 3D Laser Scanners as a professional in measurement.
  • Ensure data integrity and produce high-quality outputs using AutoCAD, 12D, and LINZ systems, including e-Survey documentation.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control and safety standards across all survey activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and BTW’s HSE policies.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing expert technical advice and fostering collaboration.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
  • Manage and analyse spatial data using GIS software to support planning and decision-making.
  • Integrate survey data with geospatial systems to produce maps and models that inform environmental and infrastructure projects.

About You

  • Diploma or Certificate in Surveying (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years of professional surveying experience, including field and office work
  • 2+ years UAV flying experience post-qualification
  • CAA Part 101 certification required; Part 102 preferred
  • Have a ‘make it happen’ attitude
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand
