This role is offered part‑time but we are open to full‑time hours if those better suit you now or in the future.
We’re seeking an experienced Environmental / Waters engineer to join our Hamilton team. This is a hands‑on Senior or Principal role, providing technical leadership and delivery primarily across stormwater, alongside three‑waters and civil projects. The scope and hours of the role can be tailored to match your experience, interests and availability.
You’ll work across local government, energy, and private development infrastructure projects, applying water sensitive design and Te Mana o te Wai, and collaborating with planners, surveyors, ecologists and iwi.
About the role
You’ll provide technical leadership and delivery across a range of projects, supporting practical and sustainable outcomes for public and private sector clients. Depending on your background and preferences, the role may include design leadership, peer review, mentoring, and client engagement.
Your work may include:
- Leading stormwater and three‑waters projects from investigation through to design and delivery support
- Designing/Modelling stormwater quality, quantity and conveyance solutions that are practical and buildable
- Applying water sensitive design and Te Mana o te Wai in project outcomes
- Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and alongside iwi and stakeholders
- Sharing knowledge through mentoring, peer review and technical support
This is a hands‑on Senior or Principal role, focused on technical leadership, judgement and collaboration rather than people‑management.
About you
You’re an experienced environmental, stormwater, and/or three‑waters engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and supporting others. We’re interested in your experience, approach and how this role could work for you.
We are hoping you’ll bring:
- A degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with 10+ years’ relevant experience
- CPEng (or working towards)
- Strong stormwater and three‑waters technical capability
- 5+ years’ experience in the New Zealand regulatory environment
- Confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders
- A collaborative and inclusive working style
