Description
Business Development Manager – IT
Who are you
You’ve got a knack for IT and you’re not afraid to talk to people, whether that’s on the phone or in person. A growth mindset comes naturally to you, keen to learn and quick to hit the ground running. You back yourself with a positive attitude, but you’re not scared to say “I don’t know” when you genuinely don’t. Rejection doesn’t knock your confidence, you’re resilient enough to take it on the chin and move on, and easy going enough to roll with whatever the day throws at you. Integrity matters to you, and so does the discipline to finish what you start.
On top of all that, you’re a team player who’s happy to help others out, get involved in team activities, carry on the culture we’ve built at Bluechip IT, and give as good as you get when it comes to banter.
Who are we
Bluechip Infotech New Zealand has been a leading software and hardware distributor for 31+ years. Our job is connecting IT resellers with the world’s leading technology vendors. We help each other out whenever asked, no one’s left to figure things out on their own. We’re continuous learners in this dynamic IT world, always keeping up with what’s changing so we can back our partners properly.
We’ve got long team tenure here, plenty of people have been part of Bluechip IT for years and years. People who’ve left have come back and stuck around, which says a lot about the place. We back new ideas, celebrate the wins together, and genuinely care about seeing each other grow and smash targets.
Role Details
You’ll focus on opportunity creation, campaign follow-up, partner activation, and early-stage pipeline development, while Account Managers retain ownership of the overall reseller relationship. You’ll report into the Sales Manager as part of the Business Development team, and you’ll work closely with AMs, PMs, and vendors along the way, not off in your own corner.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Hunting down leads through IT resellers and MSPs
- Using your IT knowledge to hold real conversations with resellers about networking and cybersecurity
- Logging qualified opportunities in CRM
- Booking meetings for AMs, PMs, and Vendors when there’s a genuine commercial opportunity on the table
- Waking under-engaged partners across our vendor portfolio
- Turning vendor campaigns and marketing activity into actual partner conversations
- Catching up with partners in person when there’s a good reason to, plus joining us at industry events and webinars
What we’re looking for
- An IT background, ideally networking/cybersecurity or IT Support, so you can speak the customer’s language from day one
- Someone self-motivated who doesn’t need babysitting
- Comfortable and confident on the phone, this is a big part of the gig
- Organised enough to keep your CRM data clean
- Prior BDM or sales experience is a bonus, but your IT background and people skills matter more
Why Bluechip IT
- A well-established distributor with a genuinely broad vendor portfolio
- Clear KPIs and targets, so you always know exactly how you’re tracking
- Real collaboration with AMs, PMs, and vendors, nobody works in a silo here
- A team that’s got your back and celebrates the wins with you
- Surgical health cover after 90 days with an option for discounted additional coverage (For citizens & permanent residents)
