Puna Ako Kaiāwhina

The Puna Ako Kaiāwhina supports the delivery of Te Puna Ako, an after-school programme for tamariki in Awarua-Bluff, helping create a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Working as part of Awarua Whānau Services, the role assists with daily programme activities, supports tamariki wellbeing and safety, fosters positive relationships with whānau, and promotes participation, confidence, and life skills development.

Key responsibilities include supporting programme delivery, maintaining attendance and wellbeing records, ensuring health and safety standards are met, engaging with whānau and community stakeholders, and contributing to programme planning and continuous improvement. The role is best suited to someone who enjoys working with tamariki, values kaupapa Māori practices, and can build positive, supportive relationships within the community.
