About us

At APD, we don’t just manufacture tanks; we are shaping a better future through innovative, sustainable water and systems solutions. As a proudly New Zealand-owned leader in thermoplastic fabrication and rotational moulding, our purpose is simple: Doing Good from the Ground Up.

We are a fast-growing, medium-sized manufacturer specialising in products that protect the environment while prioritizing easy installation. We are known as solution providers designing and engineering products that meet exact customer requirements, saving time and avoiding problems on-site. Our continued growth is driven by our passion for expanding our product range and the diverse markets we serve.

About the Role

Are you a self-motivated sales professional who loves turning complex commercial challenges into closed sales? We’re looking for an autonomous, solution-focused Account Manager to expand our reach across developers and social housing across the North Island, focusing on Auckland.

In this dynamic role, balancing 70% account management with 30% new opportunity generation, you’ll take full ownership of our relationships with large property developers, group home builders, and social housing providers across multi-unit residential complexes, large-scale subdivisions, or multi-stage development programmes. You will navigate a diverse stakeholder landscape, focusing on winning large projects and working closely alongside our specification team to influence designers early in the phase. You’ll leverage APD’s market-leading brand reputation to solve real-world site problems, unlock project opportunities early, and drive revenue.

Because key opportunities reside in Auckland, it will be your primary focus, though scope exists across the wider North Island. With our Customer Service team managing quoting and post-sale servicing, your core mission is clear: get out in front of key decision-makers, uncover opportunities, and translate our trusted brand into bottom-line growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Target large housing developments: proactively identify, target, and win major residential development programmes and social housing projects, with a primary focus on the Auckland region while selectively pursuing key opportunities across the North Island.
  • Navigate the developer ecosystem: build strong, trust-based relationships with large property developers, group home builders, social housing bodies, and civil contractors to secure early-stage project involvement.
  • Deliver problem-solving value: position APD’s engineering capabilities to solve complex stormwater and site drainage challenges, acting as a trusted technical advisor to ensure APD products are specified and selected.
  • Technical Support: tackle complex site drainage and stormwater challenges with full confidence, supported by dedicated internal engineering and design resources.
  • Maximise market presence: leverage APD’s market-leading brand reputation to unlock large-scale development opportunities early and convert brand strength into sustained revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams & partners: partner with Customer Service to manage quoting and post-sale servicing, while aligning with regional merchant channels to fulfil project demand seamlessly.
  • Advocate internally: act as a strong, articulate internal voice for developer customer needs, using solid business and financial acumen to present viable deal structures to leadership.
  • Manage territory & HubSpot CRM: work autonomously to plan efficient client visits and travel while maintaining accurate project pipeline data and key stakeholder insights in HubSpot.

What You Will Bring

  • A proven track record in autonomous, solution-focused technical sales, ideally gained within civil construction, stormwater management, or building materials
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and secure business across large property developers, group home builders, social housing entities, and civil contractors
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex site drainage challenges and present engineered solutions
  • Ability to operate as an energetic hunter, proactively mapping territory, unlocking early-stage project opportunities, and converting APD’s strong brand reputation into revenue
  • Focus on the Auckland region as the primary key market, alongside willingness to travel across the North Island as needed
  • Solid commercial and financial acumen, paired with high organisational discipline for managing pipeline activity in HubSpot CRM
  • Speaking Mandarin/Chinese is advantageous
