About us

At APD, we don’t just manufacture tanks; we are shaping a better future through innovative, sustainable water and systems solutions. As a proudly New Zealand-owned leader in thermoplastic fabrication and rotational moulding, our purpose is simple: Doing Good from the Ground Up.

We are a fast-growing, medium-sized manufacturer specialising in products that protect the environment while prioritizing easy installation. We are known as solution providers designing and engineering products that meet exact customer requirements, saving time and avoiding problems on-site. Our continued growth is driven by our passion for expanding our product range and the diverse markets we serve.

About the Role

Are you a self-motivated sales professional who loves turning complex commercial challenges into closed sales? We’re looking for an autonomous, solution-focused Account Manager to expand our reach across key regional North Island markets.

In this dynamic hunter/gatherer role, you’ll take full ownership of our stormwater and drainage portfolio across a wide geographic footprint – primarily targeting the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Wellington regions. You will navigate a diverse stakeholder landscape, focusing on significant drainage installers, developers and where needed, supporting key specification engagement at a local level. You’ll leverage APD’s market-leading brand reputation to solve real world site problems, unlock project opportunities early, and drive revenue.

Because the main team is based in Auckland, you’ll enjoy a high degree of independence while acting as a sharp internal advocate for your regional clients. You’ll also lend strategic support to our local merchant channels across your territory where needed. With our Customer Service team managing quoting and post-sale servicing, your core mission is clear: get out in front of potential decision-makers, uncover opportunities, and turn our trusted brand into bottom-line growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive regional sales: proactively identify, target, and win new stormwater and drainage opportunities direct to customers across the rest of North Island, focusing on the key areas: Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Wellington regions.
  • Navigate a diverse ecosystem: build strong, trust-based relationships across a broad customer base, including drain layers, developers and where needed, strategic specifiers.
  • Deliver problem solving value: position APD’s engineering capabilities to solve complex site drainage challenges, acting as a trusted technical and commercial advisor and conduit to other specialist team members.
  • Maximize market presence: leverage APD’s brand reputation to generate high-value leads and convert market awareness into sustained sales growth
  • Support merchant channels: provide secondary support to regional merchant partners to align distribution with direct project demand
  • Advocate internally: act as a strong, articulate internal voice for regional business opportunities, using solid business and financial acumen to pitch viable deals to internal leadership
  • Manage territory & HubSpot CRM: work independently to plan efficient travel schedules while maintaining accurate pipeline data and customer insights in HubSpot

What You Will Bring

  • A track record as a hunter/gatherer who thrives on finding potential customers, managing sales cycles, and operating independently away from head office
  • Ideally based in the Waikato or Bay of Plenty, with the willingness to undertake regular regional travel across the North Island territory
  • The ability to understand technical drainage issues and tailor solutions that save customers time and money on-site
  • Strong relationship building skills with existing networks, or the proven drive to quickly figure out ‘who’s who’ in regional drainage and specifier networks
  • Sharp communication and business acumen to build sound commercial cases, negotiate deals, and advocate for customer opportunities internally
  • A resilient, proactive mindset with the organisational discipline to manage extensive territory travel alongside Hubspot CRM admin
