Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, manage, and develop on-wharf operations team
- Drive the execution of 3 Islands’ strategy
- Innovate and deliver, as part of the 3 Islands team, a first-class logistics proposition and customer experience through teams under your leadership
- Report to and collaborate with the Business Lead and Administration Lead of the relevant port as well as internal stakeholders such as Support Office and other intermodal operations to implement cost-effective, efficient solutions for customers
- Practical skillsets including external working at heights, excavator familiarisation (To be able to problem solve and move on wharf), basic rigging, OSH forklift
- Be able to conduct hazard awareness, carry out Safety observation and Critical Risk review, emergency evacuation plan, knowledge of D&A policy and its implementation, capability of conducting incident investigations
- Capable of understanding loading and discharge plans, setting up wharf operations and oversight of load/discharge of all cargo types, incl understanding stowage principles, and capable of vessel wrap ups and invoice presentation
- Conduct vessel operations for both load and discharge operations reaching and bettering current KPI’s, minimise cargo delays. Demonstrate effective communication with staff, customers and other participants in the wharf operations
- Understand and record all load/discharge figures input directly into devices/company software and be able to accurately discuss and use those numbers to advise on completion times and gang requirements
- Maintain health and safety, regulatory and compliance standards in all activities
About you:
- 5+ years in port operations and/or logistics operations, with team management experience gained in New Zealand
- Proven ability to undertake operations, lead teams, implement strategies and continuously self-improve
- IT-proficiency in systems/software and competent communication including verbal and written via all devices including radio, tablet and smartphone
- Demonstrated local knowledge of shipping agents, principals etc
- Understanding of NZ logistics landscape and the infrastructure challenges to deliver cost-effective solutions for customers
- Demonstrated leadership ability, enthusiasm and willingness to learn and teach
