Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, manage, and develop operations team at relevant port in conjunction with the Administration Lead
  • Drive the execution of 3 Islands’ strategy
  • Innovate and deliver, as part of the 3 Islands team, a first-class logistics proposition and customer experience through teams under your leadership
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders at Support office and other intermodal operations to implement cost-effective, efficient solutions for customers
  • Senior role in shift and vessel management, understand ship stability, conduct Ship Lead training, advise and guide vessel manning team, resolution of damage issues with ships agents and customers, management/advice/problem solving of complex project and performance issues, manage all vessels in port
  • Customer liaison on best solutions for maximising productivity and uplift. Lead role in customer KPI meetings. Key “first contact” point for customer relationship management at operating location – must greet and engage with all customers present at operation
  • Be competent in training personnel in SOP and JSA documents
  • Complete understanding of all stowage techniques and methodologies, managing any vessel type
  • Capable of the upkeep and final presentation of final stowage plans for all cargo
  • Conduct Risk Assessments
  • Complete HR function in investigations, conduct and report on compliance and conduct audits, consistently meet labour and manpower KPI’s, ensure all H&S KPI’s are met and maintained in operation
  • Check and ensure all reports and finals produced within the operation are accurate
  • Maintain health and safety, regulatory and compliance standards in all activities

About you:

  • 10+ years in port operations and/or logistics operations, with strong leadership and team management experience gained in New Zealand
  • Proven ability to undertake operations, lead teams, implement strategies and continuously self-improve
  • IT-proficiency in systems/software and competent communication including verbal and written via all devices including radio, tablet and smartphone
  • Deep understanding of NZ logistics landscape and the infrastructure challenges to deliver cost-effective solutions for customers
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a demonstrated track record of success in the industry
