Summary/Objective

STACK is looking for a Security Systems Engineer (Malaysia) and is responsible for managing deployment of existing and new Physical Security Systems solutions. Reporting to Director of Security Engineering in Operational Technology team, they will develop best practices for effective operation and the technical vision & vendor roadmaps to introduce new solutions that improve both internal and external customer experience.

This role is a hands-on position that requires collaboration and coordination with the Operational Technology, local Security Operations, Critical Operations Team, Systems Vendors, Engineering Team, Delivery & Construction Team for security systems lifecycle. They will develop a standard solution that can be utilized at other sites without many changes. The Security Systems Engineer will be responsible for the integration of security systems and relevant data into a larger technology platform that will improve the visibility and efficiency of the DC properties in the region.

A good knowledge and hands-on experience of physical security application software and hardware in the data centre domain is a must. The candidates must be able to understand security concepts, risk management, and operations.

Responsibility

  • Work with Operational Technology team on the deployment of security systems for projects on new and existing buildings.
  • Carry out planning and solutioning of security systems for new projects.
  • Work with Security Consultant/other Consultants to review security systems design. When necessary, create high-level design principles, markups/ sketches, and reports as design direction to the consultants/ contractors.
  • Assist in research and develop security engineering standards, guidelines, and Basis of Design (BOD).
  • Work with internal key stakeholders to make continuous improvement on Security Systems platforms.
  • Assist in evaluating security tender for security vendors and manage their progress.
  • Perform periodic inspections of physical installation progress of security devices during construction stage as required.
  • Create hardware inventory/matrix of security devices and assist in developing test scripts for Commissioning.
  • Liaise and coordinate with Delivery team during construction period on security systems.
  • Work with key technology partners to support the various internal teams in the delivery and commissioning of new projects.
  • Work with security vendors on managing and reviewing security systems programming on new and existing buildings. This includes but not limited to: Network and systems settings; Add/modify/remove/ relocate security devices; Setup video recording profiles and parameters; Setup access control parameters, timing, interlocks, etc; Setup GUI, dashboards, and virtual maps; Setup integration between Video Surveillance System, Electronic Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection System, and others; Setup alarms, alerts, notifications; Perform regular backups and maintenance work on software applications where required; Perform any other configurations & settings as required by Operational Technology and local Security Operations team.
  • Work with local Security Operations Team and Critical Operations Team to provide inputs on system reliability, maintenance, and improvement works.
  • Be a point of escalation in Operational Technology team and provide advice to the local operation teams during security systems incidents/events affecting site operation.
  • Provide technical assistance/advice to the local Security Operations Team and maintenance vendors to troubleshoot and identify security systems issues, including but not limited to the security application software and end-devices.
  • Provide technical assistance/advice to the local Security Operations Team and maintenance vendors to ensure the system maintenance, planned restarts, firmware & software upgrades, and any planned activities are delivered exceeding standards including managing effective reports of the activities.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering field.
  • Must have at least six (6) to eight (8) years of experience in the management, deployment, or maintenance of physical security, monitoring, and alarm systems for Data Centres or other related mission critical facilities.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs is preferred.
  • Candidates with training experience in various security products (Genetec, Axis Communications, Hanwha Vision, Mercury, HID, Gallagher) are strongly preferred. Any other certifications with other security Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) will are preferred.
  • Must have operational knowledge of physical security systems, such as: Integrated Security Management System (ISMS); Video Surveillance System (VSS)/CCTV; Electrical Access Control System (EACS); Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (IDS); Video Intercom System (VIS); Electronic Key Management System (EKMS); Physical security barriers (anti-tailgating barriers, vehicle gates/barriers).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff.
  • Ability to coordinate, supervise, and communicate with contractors who perform maintenance in the data center.
  • Good interpersonal skills, must be a team player, and can follow direction.
  • Must be able to attain and hold any applicable safety training/card/credential in Malaysia to go into construction sites.
