We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Cost Controller to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a growing organisation supporting our Australian financial operations.
Reporting to the Business Analyst, the Cost Controller will be responsible for budget management, expenditure control, and forecasting to assist project managers in ensuring completion within approved cost, schedule, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate approved estimates into approved project control budget breakdowns. Establish and monitor budgets using project management software (Procore).
- Actively monitor and analyse commitments and actuals to ensure correct coding, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Review financial transactions, audit documents, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Compile and analyse account information to create ad-hoc financial reports that assist project managers in evaluating project performance.
- Support process improvement and system enhancement initiatives.
- Conduct cost reconciliation for key projects between Xero and our project management system
- Monitor and analyse project actual costs, ensuring actual project costs are reconciled and reported (weekly, monthly).
- Facilitate monthly Project Valuation sessions with Project Managers to review project budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare up-to-date cost reports showing approved budgets, commitments, forecasts, billed to date, and amounts outstanding.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5-8 years’ experience in an Accountant, Cost Controller, or similar role.
- Relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Xero is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
