Summary:

A Clinic Assistant provides patient care in a medical practice or hospital setting, working under the supervision of a physician or nurse. They perform various duties, including preparing patient files, taking vital signs, administering medications, conducting diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical history and symptoms
  • Record vital sign readings and other measurements accurately
  • Assist in maintaining patient files and records
  • Set up and assist with medical procedures such as biopsies and surgeries
  • Prepare medications and administer according to physician’s instructions
  • Assist with diagnostic tests such as EKGs, X-rays, and lab work
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment and exam rooms
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
  • Educate patients on their medical conditions and treatment plans
  • Observe and report any changes in patient conditions to the physician or nurse

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or Medical Assistant program
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in the use of electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical ability to lift and move patients and medical equipment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
