WALGA

We advocate on behalf of our members to all levels of Government, provide services with a direct benefit to our members and raise the credibility and profile of the sector with positive marketing and communication to a wide audience. We do this through a number of key portfolios and are structured to ensure we can deliver on what our members need.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION

WALGA is the peak body for all 139 Local Governments in WA. We are a member-based, not-for-profit organisation with a purpose to support WA Local Governments to deliver better outcomes for their communities. We deliver expertise and support through policy development, issues management, training and advice on issues important to Local Government.

WHAT WE DO

The structure of WALGA is designed to ensure we remain representative of our members.

Our operational structure is comprised of a number of portfolios who undertake either policy and advocacy work on behalf of the Local Government sector or offer services to assist and train Local Governments to perform their duties.

Training

WALGA operates a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trading as WALGA Training (RTO Code 51992) to deliver training services to Local Government Officers and Elected Members.

Governance Structure

State Council

State Council is the decision-making representative body of WALGA, responsible for sector-wide policy making and strategic planning on behalf of Local Government.

Zones

Zones are groups of geographically aligned Member Local Governments, responsible for direct elections of State Councilors, providing input into policy formulation and providing advice on various matters.
