As a leading supplier of polymer stamps supplying to over 50 countries globally, Lavinia Stamps is in the business of inspiring creativity.
Over the last 4 years, they’ve seen their business grow from strength to strength, leading them to expand from a team of 5 to 20. However, growth has brought about new challenges. We spoke with the Project and General Manager, Andrew Peers, who explained, “Previously, we didn’t really have a formal HR system and while it worked initially, managing processes became increasingly difficult as we expanded.”
The need for a system to help them manage their challenges pushed them to discover Employment Hero at an accounting show.

How it started – The need for simplified HR processes

“It was a nightmare as everything was all over the place.”
Andrew recognised that this was becoming a problem within the business when he found himself responsible for dealing with HR for the business. “It has sort of fallen on me to do HR, and that’s not really my field.” Naturally, this caused operational difficulties as Andrew did not have the HR training, knowledge, or time to manage the entire function by himself.

“Previously, holiday requests were handled on paper and tracked on a wall planner with coloured dots,” Andrew says. “Employment Hero’s leave management is much more efficient. People can submit leave requests through the system and see if they clash with anyone else’s. It’s also really convenient for employees to be able to track their leave balances in real-time through their phone even when they are sitting at home.”
“Sometimes we have events and people need to work on weekends,” Andrew shared. “When they do, employees get an additional day off in-lieu and we can easily add that into their leave balances through the system which is really convenient.”
Effortless contract and policy management
Leveraging Employment Hero has also allowed the team to easily send out important contract and policy documents for electronic acknowledgement. “The system automatically sends notifications to employees and reminds them if they have not acknowledged the document. It also allows them to sign off on receiving them directly from their phone.”
“When we need to change elements of the contract, it’s easier with Employment Hero. Each individual can also view the updated document straightaway, it has definitely freed up my time.”
