About the organisation
He Waka Tapu is a kaupapa Māori organisation located in Ōtautahi and Hakatere, that has provided services across Canterbury for over 30 years and extended supports in recent years to Wharekauri/Chatham Island.
We pride ourselves in our collaborative approach both with other providers and with communities.
About the role
We are looking for a nurse who has experience in working in community or has a passion for moving into community nursing. You will promote, offer, and provide support to whānau specifically to increase control over and to improve health across the continuum being Mental Health & Addictions, Physical Health, and social wellbeing utilising a holistic approach.
The referrals for this service will all be from our internal programmes for whaiora who have long-term health issues such as diabetes, respiratory, cancer screening needs, nutrition and heart issues. The role champions whaiora to consider their physical needs alongside potentially the psychosocial interventions they may be receiving from another onsite service.
Skills and experience
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse and hold current Nursing council of New Zealand practising certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a Māori organisation/content and be able to meet the tikanga/kawa requirements.
- A high standard of professionalism and work ethic
- Outstanding motivational and communication skills
- An ability to contribute positively within a team
- Hold a full NZ drivers licence
