Te Tira Ahu Pae is Massey University’s Student association, we aspire to be Te Tiriti led. We represent and provide services to all Massey tauira (students), whether they study domestically or internationally, by distance or from one of the three physical campuses at Ōtehā – Albany, Manawatū – Palmerston North, and Pukeahu – Wellington. About the role:

We are looking for a Representation Manager to be part of our Senior Leadership Team. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Representation Manager to work with elected and appointed student representatives. Each year we have 31 students providing representation to a diverse range of students. The successful candidate will ensure representatives understand their roles, the difference between operations vs governance how to deliver on representation projects and strategy. This role involves developing student representative capability, leading representatives through their term, and assisting them in developing strategic thinking.

This position is for 37.5 hours per week and this role could be based at any of our campuses:

Pukeahu – Wellington campus.

Manawatū - Palmerston North campus

Ōteha - Auckland campus

Responsibilities

This role is extremely varied with duties mainly related to:

Deliver board motions and recommendations as outlined in the Representation Review report.
Develop new policies and procedures for Student Representatives.
Mentor, guide, and support Representatives to meet the expectations of the Board and tauira.
Encourage Representatives to engage and consult with the tauira they represent.
Facilitate training and development programs for student representatives.
Develop systems for Representatives to work collaboratively across various locations.
Provide positive leadership and encourage a high-performance culture within the Representative group.
Assist Representatives with the development and annual review of Te Tiriti aspirations.
Ensure Representatives understand and honor Te Tiriti o Waitangi and apply Tikanga in their mahi.
Place Representatives onto various boards and committees based on ability and development opportunities.
Manage the Distance Student Scholarship programme and provide oversight for Representative budgets and payroll.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts at Massey University.

To get short listed, you will have:

Knowledge of Board Governance, specifically with NFP organisations.
Proven leadership experience.
Understanding of people and culture (Human Resources) legislation relating to contractors.
Proven ability to develop and grow individuals.
Competent with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach.
Strong relationship-building, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga in an education environment.
Full and valid NZ Drivers’ license
