Digital Marketing Specialist

This is a unique opportunity for you to join a well-established family-owned, Kiwi retail business and be empowered to use all of your digital marketing nous to own and grow the role. You’ll be supported by an experienced Marketing Manager and a family of outstanding partners including Aro Digital, Grow My Business, and an excellent freelance designer who is an integral part of our team.

You’ll own and drive all digital marketing channels including our owned and paid channels. You will lead the optimization of our website (built over a year ago), manage marketplaces including Trade Me and AutoTrader, and manage the majority of manufacturer tactical promotions for nine of NZ’s top new car brands as well as our high-quality used car business, servicing and WOFs.

This is a busy, retail marketing, strategic and tactical role giving you the scope to develop our social and content strategy, leverage sponsorships (NZ Art Show, Wellington City Mission and Wellington Rugby), and continue to grow the performance of our digital marketing. You will be joining a progressive company that isn’t afraid of trying things and works together to make awesome things happen. More than 75% of our media mix is digital, which is performing well, and you now have the opportunity to take it to the next level.

A key part of this role is to manage leads for our sales team, provide sales reporting for our Dealer Principal, and manage the relationship with AutoPlay (lead management tool). Unlike some of our industry, we have been growing market share during the recession and by investing in the right things we are continuing to grow.

You’ll be joining a team of over 130 people and be a key part of a small Marketing team of two supported by a network of specialist freelancers and a digital agency. We have four branches in Lower Hutt (sales/service), Upper Hutt (service), Wellington (service) and Porirua (commercial vehicle sales and service). You’ll be based in our main Lower Hutt branch.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Strategic and tactical digital marketing experience.

• Retail product and/or service marketing experience desirable.

• Enthusiastic, people-oriented and collaborative. You thrive in a busy environment and have honed your planning skills. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent critical thinker and love thinking laterally to create innovative initiatives.

• Commercially oriented and enjoy working closely with a sales team to generate quality leads and find content that you can use to grow brand engagement on digital channels.

• Strong social marketer especially Facebook and Instagram. Confident growing UGC and sharing our brand stories. You love writing for social and you know how to set-up and measure a social campaign. You’re experienced managing a social activity calendar including collaborating with your immediate team, the wider team and our partners/sponsors to identify and leverage opportunities. You enjoy initiating and running social brand engagement initiatives.

• Confident recommending, implementing, testing and reporting on digital activity for a limited time campaign or always-on brand equity programme.

• Confident using content management systems and find them easy to learn to edit and create new content on our website. Wordpress experience desirable. Experienced optimising websites – eCommerce desirable.

• You’re analytical, results oriented and confident using Google Analytics to derive actionable insights to optimize our website and referral channels.

• Can-do attitude to muck in with the Marketing Manager to support other initiatives like events. Some after hours and limited weekend work required for events.

• Desirable: Experience creating, editing and/or using video and photo content.

• Desirable: Experience working on CX and capability building projects.

• You’ll need a clean drivers’ license and be able to travel for work if required.
