About Rococo Chocolates

Rococo Chocolates is an iconic British brand established in 1983 by Chantal Coady, OBE, who set up their first store on Kings Road in Chelsea. Now, their delicious chocolates can be found in Londonโ€™s prestigious department stores including Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, and Harrods.

Theyโ€™ve been bought (June 2022) by the Prestat Group (part of Gruppo Illy), who are famous for having a Royal Warrant granted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Since 2021, Rococo Chocolates have been enjoying the benefits of Employment Heroโ€™s HRIS system to manage their payroll and HR system needs for their diverse workforce which comprises of staff from the shop floor to offices.

We spoke with Jenny Ryan, Head of HR at Rococo Chocolates about how Employment Hero has been helping them prepare for their merger and transform the way they manage their HR and payroll in-house.

Onboarding staff successfully: from the shop floor to the office

To set up your staff for success, your onboarding process should align with the different expectations each colleague needs to understand depending on whether theyโ€™re based on the shop floor or the office.

This can be a headache-inducing activity when you have to consider the different criteria each role fulfils. But itโ€™s important to keep things succinct so that it does not take away from the excitement of starting a new job.

โ€œOur customers feel really passionate about what we do, and we want our team to feel this too. One of the key things that everyone needs to learn is whatโ€™s in our range of chocolates,โ€ says Jenny.

This adds a layer of complexity to onboarding, but itโ€™s an important part of getting new team members ready for the role. โ€œWe send all that information out ahead of time and it gets people really excited about what it is that theyโ€™re going to do.โ€

Everything everywhere, on different platforms

It can be tempting to sign up for a variety of systems, especially when youโ€™re trying to figure out what is best for your business. But this can be demotivating if they are not really meeting your needs.

With everything everywhere, it can be hard to stay on top of what platform is being used for what โ€“ and visibility starts depleting fast if you lose track of who to go to for HR or Payroll.

โ€œI used to receive a lot of email requests on how much leave people had, and all of that went away. They could look at a leave calendar and make a conscious decision to put that leave in which made things simpler and faster for our team.โ€
