A big welcome back to the July edition of the Employment Hero product update. We’re running full speed into the second half of the year, which means one thing – we’ve got a whole bunch of new product releases to share with you.

So, what’s new? We’ve introduced shareable SmartMatch candidates, added the option for length-based review periods, template creation for 360-degree reviews, new updates to rostering, custom email notifications and lots more. It’s all here and ready for you to use in-platform – let’s get to it.

A new suite of updates to SmartMatch

Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work developing our SmartMatch AI tool to make recruitment easier than ever before. This month we’ve released a whole new bunch of updates

You can now share SmartMatch Candidate Profiles

Available for the following HR plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

Discovered a great SmartMatch candidate? You can now share these with colleagues involved in the hiring process enabling you to take faster action in finding the right candidate.

To share a candidate’s profile within SmartMatch, simply use the ‘Share Candidate Profile’ option to be able to send it to other members of your team who need to be informed of hiring decisions. The user you choose to share the profile with will receive an email with a link to view the candidate’s profile in their account under ‘Saved Candidates’. A banner will also appear on the candidate’s profile indicating that the candidate has been shared with them.

Interested SmartMatch candidates can now provide answers to screening questions and send a personal introduction

When you create a new job in the Recruitment module, SmartMatch instantly starts searching for high-quality candidates genuinely interested in your role and company.

Top-quality candidates will receive a notification letting them know that SmartMatch thinks they are a top match for this role. These candidates can then review the job description and, if it’s a match, express their interest in the role.

With these latest releases, candidates can take this a step further by providing answers to any screening questions you’ve added to the job and writing out a personal introduction explaining their interest in your role and business.

Introducing length-based review periods

Available for the following HR plans: Premium, Platinum

Staying on top of review periods can be difficult when managing a team, which is why we’ve introduced a way to lock in review dates. Whether it’s performance reviews or probationary reviews, you’re now able to define a set duration (e.g. 3-month probation review, 1-year performance review, etc.), instead of fixed start and end dates.

This allows the review period to automatically start for each employee and manager upon assignment, streamlining the management of probationary periods alongside regular performance reviews.

Filter for employee rehire eligibility

Available for the following HR plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum

Do you have employees who have recently left your business, but might consider returning in the future? This one’s for you. We’ve now added a filter to make your rehiring process a little easier – you can now see offboarded employees’ rehire eligibility.

With this information, you can easily track and review previous employees who might be suitable for rehire in your employee list. In addition, you can also include this filter in Termination Reports.

When the time comes to offboard an employee, you’re now asked, “Would you consider this personnel for rehire?” If you mark, “Yes”, you’ll be able to bring them back on board in the future with ease.

This filter is a game-changer for businesses who rely on a seasonal workforce, or have interns or contractors who may wish to work for the company later in time.

Template creation for 360 reviews

Available for the following HR plans: Platinum

We all know how valuable feedback is in the workplace – and when it’s delivered from a range of different people in the business, it’s an incredibly valuable tool for professional development.

In Employment Hero, 360 reviews are designed to give employees a more rounded view of their professional development, allowing feedback to come from others outside their direct reporting line.

We want to make them even easier to use, so we’ve streamlined 360 reviews by adding the ability to create templates. To create a template, navigate to Performance > 360 Reviews Management > Template management > Create 360 review template.

Brand new updates to Rostering Management

Available for the following New HR plans: Platinum

We’ve made some key updates to Rostering Management. We’ve introduced a brand new feature, Roles, and the ability to print a roster.

Introducing Roles

Our brand new Roles feature allows you to create a roster group, such as front-of-house serving staff, that you can then assign to your employees in rostering management when entering their shift details. You can also use this feature to edit the role details if they change and delete a record if it is no longer required.

Roles will be included in email notifications and in Swag shifts. You can also assign custom colours to identify them on your rostering calendar quickly.

Adding print ability

We’ve also added the ability for you to print rosters directly from Employment Hero. When printing a roster, you can customise what is included (e.g. date range, locations, shift status, employees, etc.) and can be printed in a week or day format.

Custom email notifications for leave and expenses

Available for the following HR plans: Platinum

Being busy at work means that sometimes important notifications often go unread. To reduce the chance of this happening, you can now set up custom email notifications for leave and expenses. This update means that notifications will be delivered directly to your inbox when an employee makes a request.

The email notifications are built from workflows based on specific conditions that must be met. You can also choose the information you want to include within the email notification to better suit your organisation’s needs.

Introducing the Pinned Reports widget

Available for the following HR plans: Platinum

Looking for a straightforward way to view reports in-platform that are important to your organisation? The new Pinned Reports widget helps you do just that.

You can now pin reports on your HR platform dashboard using the Pinned Reports widget. This feature lets you have easy access to up to five reports and the ability to arrange them based on importance. You can pin Policies & Induction Content, Certifications, HR Documents, Tenure Reports, Asset Reports, Goals Report and Custom ‘Build Your Own Reports’. You can also pin your Workforce Snapshot or your Termination, Work Eligibility, and Tax Reports.

Admins, owners and users with the relevant custom security settings (CSS) have the ability to pin reports to the dashboard.

Create internal roles via the Recruitment module

Available for the following HR plans: Platinum

Looking to hire internally? We’ve just made it a whole lot easier. You can now create internal roles (I.e. roles made visible only to employees within your organisation) from the “Add New Job” menu.

This feature lets you create an internal job opening, specify the role details, add screening questions, hiring managers, and more. You can also comment on an applicant’s progress, meaning you can keep your hiring notes in one place.

Changed your mind? You can easily change an internal role to an external role under the ‘Adverts’ tab within the role.
