About the Role
As a Graduate Energy Market Analyst, you will support the development, maintenance and operation of quantitative models that underpin trading decisions, risk management, PPA structuring and retail pricing. Working alongside other analysts and traders, you will apply programming skills and analytical techniques to solve complex problems in Australian energy markets. This position suits someone with strong quantitative foundations and programming competency who wants to develop deep expertise in energy market modelling within a dynamic commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Quantitative Model Development & Maintenance
•Assist with building, testing and refining quantitative models used for trading signals, risk assessment, PPA valuation and retail price setting
•Write clean, maintainable code in Python to implement pricing algorithms, forecasting tools and analytical workflows
•Support ongoing model validation and performance monitoring to ensure accuracy and reliability
•Help document model methodologies, assumptions and code logic
Market Analysis
•Analyse supply and demand fundamentals, price dynamics and market trends to inform model inputs and assumptions
•Monitor regulatory developments and assess their implications for model parameters
Reporting & Collaboration
•Build dashboards and visualisation tools to communicate model results to traders and commercial teams
•Collaborate across functions to understand business requirements and translate them into model enhancements
•Contribute to regular reporting on model performance and trading analytics
Continuous Improvement
•Stay current with quantitative techniques, programming languages and industry best practice
•Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve model efficiency
•Participate in professional development through training, conferences and industry engagement

Education and Qualifications
• Relevant undergraduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• You will have held a graduate or internship role, either in the last year or during your graduate degree.
Skills and Experience
• Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Understanding of and interest in the energy market.
• An interest in trading, market data, and analytical tools.
