Description

This role is responsible for leading and managing food safety and quality assurance systems across multiple sites, with a strong focus on maintaining and improving HACCP-based programs. It involves overseeing compliance with food safety standards and regulations, conducting audits and verifications, and ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, and product integrity. The position also collaborates with production teams and suppliers, manages non-conformances and customer complaints, and maintains key programs such as allergen control, pest management, and product recalls. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring HACCP teams, keeping systems aligned with regulatory updates, and supporting product specifications and nutritional information management

Permanent Part-Time position offered, working 3 days per week, flexibility offered.

Summary 

  • Setting up and maintaining the Quality Management and Food Safety Programs.
  • Communicating the policy on Food Safety and Quality to staff.
  • Monitoring compliance with policy, through inspection records, internal audits, and verifications when completing the management reviews.
  • Performing Internal Audits, systems verification and validation, keeping the HACCP system up to date and checking compliance within the organisation.
  • Pointing out deviations, making proposals for improvement measures, whilst checking the effectiveness of the correction and improvement measures.
  • Manage the multi-site HACCP Teams.
  • Follow developments in legislation, requirements, and standards and translate these into the quality system.
  • The performance of checks and verifications of records in the Food Safety Program, such as calibration, temperature management of cold storage and product receivals and despatch.
  • Setting up and maintaining product specification register for both our  own production and external suppliers.
  • Ensuring that the Companies Food Safety Safety and HACCP accreditations are maintained and upheld.
  • Lead, train and mentor the HACCP teams fostering a culture of quality.

  

 Job Description:

  • Lead and manage the HACCP teams, ensuring that the Food Safety Program is maintained, verified and is compliant.
  • Manage the Companies multiple site Food Safety Programs, regarding the compliance of the appropriate standards and regulations.
  • Support and lead the HACCP system to maintain detailed records.
  • Conduct Internal Audits and support external audits, including documentation and reporting of the Companies Food Safety Programs. Manage hygiene, GMP, labelling and product integrity, as per the HACCP Verification Schedules, specified in the Food Safety Program.
  • Collaborate with in house production and suppliers on food safety issues. specifications, New Product Development, and documentation.
  • Record, report and action all Non-Conformances both externally and internally, and identify, report, and assist corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintain accurate QA records, reports, and traceability documentation.
  • Investigate and signoff on customers complaints.
  • Maintain allergen management both regarding Labelling and Cross Contamination of product.
  • Monitor the Pest Control Program.
  • Maintain product recall protocols and manage mock recall exercises.
  • Monitor the approved supplier register and maintain certifications.
  • Producing and managing the companies, Product Information Sheets, including the calculation and formulations of Nutritional Information Panels.

 

Experience & Qualifications – what we are looking for

  • Formal Qualifications and knowledge in HACCP, GMP and food safety principles.
  • Internal Food Safety Auditor qualification and experience.
  • Basic understanding and familiarly with the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act and regulations.
  • An understanding of Allergen Management and Labelling.
  • Ability and experience in managing PIF and NIP calculations and creation. Biscaps PIF Manager experience preferred, but not essential.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, quality control, or similar experience within manufacturing or production
  • Issue resolution experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in speech and writing.
  • Being a team player.
