State Safety Manager – Brisbane    Fulltime | Permanent | Global Infrastructure  

Hewitt is committed to maintaining a safe, high-performing workplace. We’re seeking a hands-on State Safety Manager to lead and strengthen safety culture across our Queensland operations, based in Brisbane. This role partners closely with station leaders to support compliance, manage risk, and deliver practical safety outcomes across diverse operational environments. This is a key leadership role with where your impact will be visible, valued, and felt across the business. 

 About the Role  As State Safety Manager, you will lead the delivery of practical, high-impact safety support across Hewitt’s Queensland operations. Based in Brisbane and working closely with station, you will strengthen safety capability, oversee compliance with WHS requirements, and support consistent use of safety systems in the field. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can coach leaders, respond to incidents, and drive continuous improvement across diverse operational environments. You will be visible, collaborative, and committed to building a culture where safety is owned by leaders and embedded in everyday work. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coach station leaders to own safety and meet WHS obligations. 
  • Lead incident response, investigations, and corrective action follow-through. 
  • Oversee audits, inspections, and the effective use of core safety systems. 
  • Support safe delivery of regional projects and contractor management. 
  • Identify hazards early and drive practical risk controls across sites. 
  • Lead strategic safety initiatives to enhance safety culture. 

 About You  You are an experienced safety leader with strong WHS expertise gained in high-risk, operational environments. You bring a practical, hands-on approach and know how to build credibility with frontline teams and senior leaders alike. Confident in the field and calm under pressure, you can balance compliance, coaching and operational realities to achieve safer outcomes. You are motivated by continuous improvement and committed to creating a culture where safety is proactive, visible and embedded in daily work 

You Will Bring 

  • Demonstrated experience in safety leadership across high-risk operations. 
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, audits, incident investigation (ICAM) and risk controls. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and influence leaders. 
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work closely with regional operations. 
  • A WHS and return to work qualification at Cert IV or Diploma level as a minimum
