About the organisation
He Waka Tapu is a Kaupapa Maori organisation who have been supporting individuals and the community for 30 years. He Waka Tapu works to increase the health and wellbeing of Whānau.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive person with an understanding of the concept of Whānau Ora .You will take a role in an important service to guide and encourage Whānau with their plans to achieve autonomous wellbeing.
About the role
The Whānau Ora Navigator position is one that will support Māori whaiora within the community to make positive changes in their lives and the lives of their Whānau. You will engage in a holistic way using a whānau ora model of working to assess their needs and walk along side the whanau to help build skills, confidence and enable a positive behaviour change.
You will contribute to the prevention and reduction in vulnerability and harm for whaiora, whānau and communities and support the reduction in the number of whānau that experience hardship and adverse life outcomes. This role is full-time hours, fixed-term until December 2025 situated in our Wainoni office.
Skills and experience
- Experience working with Māori and within a kaupapa Māori environment.
- Experience in establishing effective working relationships with individuals, their whānau and other key stakeholders.
- A passion for helping people
- Commitment and/or experience working in a Whānau Ora model.
- Experience working with whanau, lived experience
